First Reconciliation

Preparation for First Reconciliation is covered in the 2nd grade curriculum for baptized students who have completed a minimum of one year of Religious Education prior to the beginning of the 2nd grade (1st grade). Older students, those who have not completed the 1st grade curriculum or children who have not been baptized will need to contact the Director of Religious Education. Preparation for First Reconciliation is an integral aspect of the preparation for First Communion since children must receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation before they can receive their First Communion.

The preparation for First Reconciliation consists of an afternoon retreat on the day of the Advent Penance Rite.  For the current year, that will be December 13th. The observance of sacrament of Reconciliation for children includes participating in two Penance Rites (Advent and Lent) and at least one individual Confession. This must be completed before the child may receive First Holy Communion.

Special Dates:

Advent Penance Rite: December 13, 2015
Lenten Penance Rite: Has not been scheduled at this time.

The parents of students who attend Catholic Schools for the preparation for First Reconciliation need to Contact the Director of Religious Education to coordinate the reception of this Sacrament.
