BOTH GROUPS
Youth Leaders are the group of youth who decide most of the things that the youth group gets to do. They make all of the rules and voice their opinions on the various boards of the parish. Becoming a youth leader is very easy all you have to do is volunteer in May for the next year. To volunteer you go to Tracy, get an application, and fill it out. Then we just have to sit down and find where you can use your gifts.
Advocacy Talks are controversial subject talks with guests speakers (abortion, stem cell research, birth control, etc.) and group discussion. These are held about twice a year during the regular youth group time on Sundays.
The Calendar is published every month and is available on the youth table in the foyer of the church, hanging outside of the youth room door on the wall, and on the website ( epiphanyokc.com ) under calendar. The one on the website will be the most current, because of last minute changes.
Sports teams and games are only going on when there is interest. If you would like to form a team of some sort come and check with me and will try to get it started. Currently we have a group that likes to play basketball and another group that likes to play volleyball.
The Website is pretty self explanatory if you happen to be reading this right now, but one thing you may not know is that it was designed and for the most part is maintained by the youth. Yeah youth!!!
Monthly Fun Days are those days when we just go and hang out with each other some where. They are strictly social and fun. We've done everything from riding horses to bowling to going tubing. These days change all the time so you have to watch the bulletin and the website. They also always require a permission paper and a signing up in advance. Sometimes they also require a deposit.
Monthly Service Opportunities are those days when we go and perform some type of service work. These range from stuffing envelopes to decorating the church for a holiday. These days also change, so you have to watch the bulletin and the website.
Lock-ins are held twice a year. New Year's for the high school, fall break for the middle school. Both are all nighters!!!
Contact Postcard Ministry is an accountability program where youth are contacted at least once a month
Lectors, cantors, and ushers are not just adults at Epiphany parish. All areas of ministry are open to Catholic youth. Most areas do have specific requirements regarding training, age, and ability, so check out how you can use your gifts in Mass!
