Wood Carving

Wood Carving

The woodcarvers meet in the hallway west of the office every Thursday from 9:00 am to noon. Our group is open to men or women of all ages and faiths. Some of us are members of the Oklahoma City Woodcarvers Assn, however this is not a requirement. Our group is for anyone with an interest in woodcarving, from a beginner to a master carver.

The men and women who meet with us each Tuesday represent all skill and experience levels. We will provide knives and wood for beginners as well as instruction; so no investment is required until the beginner decides if they truly do have an interest and have an idea of which knife style feels right for them. Instruction is available to all skill and experience levels, so if it has been awhile since you carved we can help you get the feeling back.

The woodcarvers have experience in most types of carving including shallow relief, deep relief, in the round, chip carving, stylized, architectural, and caricatures. We try to hold the carving to hand carving in these sessions, and do not include power carving or chainsaw carving.

The coffee is free, the conversation is free, so come see if this might fit your fancy.
